2013-04-12_0924When asked how Minsky’s got its name, owner Gregg Johnson stated, “It was a two beer marketing idea.”

In 1976, Johnson was sitting in a small-town bar in Iowa when the bar manager suggested the name, “Minsky’s,” after a burlesque in New York City. And thus, Minsky’s Pizza was born.

And now, 37 years later we’ve created our very own Burlesque Lager to perfectly complement our gourmet pizzas, pastas and calzones!

Wednesday night we celebrated the launch of our new creation at our Barry Road West location with a VIP event. Minsky’s patrons (and beer connoisseurs) gathered together for one kickin’ extravaganza! Several of our store managers were also celebrating the new success. Thanks to all who attended.

Minsky’s Burlesque Lager is hand crafted under contract at Weston Brewery by Flying Monkey. Minsky’s approached Robert Eilert at Flying Monkey late last year in search of a brewer for a quality light-bodied American lager that would complement Misnky’s high quality gourmet pizzas. We’re happy to say the collaboration was a success – the beer is great, and it’s extra great with your favorite Minsky’s Pizza.

Get a “leg up” on the crowd and visit your local Minsky’s Pizza to taste the crisp new lager! After all, what is Minsky’s Pizza without a tasty beverage? Come and taste why it’s our new favorite tonight!

The new lager will be available on tap at all locations except Lee’s Summit, and is already rolling at several of our metro locations and in Lawrence. Ask your server or bartender for details.
