This year, Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce is the 2020 Chiefs nominee for the coveted Walter Payton Man of the Year award. This award is one of the highest honors awarded by the NFL and recognizes on-field excellence and a strong commitment to serving their communities off the field. Minsky’s is proud to have had a part in helping the community through Kelce’s meaningful organization!
Beginning with the 2019 season, Minsky’s Pizza teamed up with Kelce to create the Kelceroni pizza, a creation that is as tasty as it is charitable. For each Kelceroni purchased, a donation is made to Kelce’s 87 & Running Foundation benefiting Operation Breakthrough! Last season over $50,000 was contributed to the cause.
This is Kelce’s first nomination and is a true testament to the incredible impact he has had on and off the field. Through his 87 & Running Foundation and his work with Operation Breakthrough, Kelce provides disadvantaged youth with the resources they need to discover their personal passions. Recently Kelce and his foundation have been working with Operation Breakthrough to create a STEM learning space called “Ignition Lab” for underserved teens.
All 32 nominees will receive a $40,000 donation to a charity of their choice and are set to be recognized ahead of the NFL Honors ceremony leading up to Super Bowl LV. The winner of the Walter Payton Award will receive a $250,000 donation to a charity of their choice all courtesy of the NFL and Nationwide.
Chiefs fans can support Kelce by voting on Twitter using the #WPMOYChallenge followed by the nominees’ last name. If Kelce receives the most votes between Dec. 10 and Jan. 17, he will receive a $25,000 contribution to a charity of his choice.
