November 1, 2025, marks the arrival of the 10th Annual National Calzone Day – an official National Day, invented by Minsky’s and Celebrated around the World! Back in 2016, Minsky’s Pizza and the official Registrar of the National Day Calendar declared that November 1st would, from that day forward, be recognized as National Calzone Day in the US – and around the World!
So why celebrate the humble Calzone? Let’s just say once you make the calzone a meal of your own, the answer to that question is certain to be known! (We of course recommend Minsky’s, not just because we invented National Calzone Day, but because Minsky’s makes a magnificent calzone!)
A little over 10 years ago or so (so the story goes), a group of customers sat at a table, all enjoying their very own delicious calzone. A Minsky’s employee overheard them debating their favorite calzone flavor. And then the light bulb flashed on: all calzones have something in common, they look just about the same on the outside, but on the inside, it was all delicious and pure culinary joy!
The commonality of the calzone outside revealed so little of the uncommon delight inside! Someone needed to spread the word! One thing led to another at Minsky’s, calls were made, food was tasted, and the lobbying began: the dream needed to become a reality. The calzone deserved its own annual holiday!
And it happened. The Official Registrar from the National Day Calendar contacted Minsky’s with the good news: November 1st was selected as the annual day to honor the Italian delicacy created in Naples, Italy, and perfected in Kansas City, Missouri – and just in time for Minsky’s 40th Anniversary!
Now, a decade later, calzone fans across the globe come together on November 1st to celebrate the gooey, golden perfection of the calzone.
