Baseball + Minsky’s was the name of the game during the World Series!
We even created a pizza just for the landmark event: “Billy’s Base Stealin’ Bar-B-Q” pizza! Topped with fire-braised pulled pork, sliced dill pickles, provolone and Swiss cheeses – prepared BBQ style with Billy Butler’s “Hit it a Ton” Bar-B-Q sauce from Zarda Bar-B-Q.
And best of all, $3 from each sale went to Billy’s charity of choice: The Bishop Sullivan Center. Bishop Sullivan Center is one of the largest providers of emergency assistance in the Kansas City area. Their mission is to provide basic necessities to people who are unable to do so, and to assist those who are able, to become financially self-sufficient by finding employment.
We were honored to present Bishop Sullivan’s Executive Director Tom Turner a check for $1,746. These funds will help the Center provide the following services:
- Two Food Pantries (serving over 1,200 families each month)
- Community Kitchen (about 250 people served a hot meal five nights a week)
- Emergency Assistance (rent, utilities and other basic needs)
- Employment Services (Assist people finding employment – 465 in 2013)
- Project ElderCool (air-conditioners for indigent elderly – 282 in 2013)
- Food Delivery to Homebound Elderly (about 30 each month)
- Clothes Closet (free clothing to our pantry clients)
