Minsky's Pizza visit KU Med

Minsky’s Pizza visits KU Med

Minsky’s on Southwest Boulevard (Minsky’s Pizza’s 16th and newest area location) paid a special visit to our neighbor up the hill, the Univerity of Kansas Hospital this week. We’ve been open less than a month but we were itching to spread some Gourmet Goodness to the hospital as a special thanks for all of the great work they do. Minsky’s founder Gregg Johnson and store manager Tim Cole fired up Minsky’s all-purpose delivery vehicle and filled the custom pizza warmer with 30 Large Gourmet delights (including Prime Cuts, Papa Minsky’s, Jumbo Combos, 5-Star Cheese, a pepperoni or two and even some gluten free pies) and set aim for the amazing KU Med campus.

Our first stop was KU’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with a delivery of 15 pizzas for families, doctors, nurses and staff in that unit. The “NICU” gives great medical care to newborns that are not healthy enough go to the full term nursery at KU. KU has one of the few departments in Kansas City that provide complete neonatal care all in one place. Newborns ranging from premature to critically ill can be delivered, recover and receive treatment all in the NICU. Our thanks to the great work they do can not be over-expressed: thanks KU!

After their visit to the NICU, the Minsky’s team made the short drive across Rainbow to KU’s Acute Impatient Rehabilitation Unit where therapists provide physical and other therapy to patients that need additional assistance before returning home to their families.

It was a great morning and a great kick-off to Minsky’s 40th Anniversary year in 2016. Said founder Gregg Johnson, “We have a great deal of respect for the care provided by the Doctors, nurses and all of the staff at KU. Many of our own families as well as Minsky’s managers and staff have benefited from the excellent care KU provides. We couldn’t be more pleased to extend our sincere thanks with a special pizza delivery.”
