Sean Rivers was applying for UMKC Scholarships when he happened upon one that included something tasty any college student would love – Minsky’s Pizza!
Ken Clark, an Engineering graduate of UMKC, funds the $500 + pizza scholarship. Ken’s goal was to just to give something back to the school. He started the scholarship as kind of a joke – when he had the idea that the winning student would get both the money and free pizza every week for the semester. Ken said he likes Minsky’s and it’s easy to share with friends, so it is also a social award.
“You know Minsky’s is good by how heavy the pizza box is!” said Clark. The toppings are definitely piled on!
Ken met this year/s scholarship winner, Sean Rivers, for lunch at Minsky’s recently and the two shared a pie while discussing engineering and Sean’s future plans to hopefully become a Construction Project Manager. Sean says he chose UMKC because it is the best school in the area, and ABET accredited. (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).
Sean’s new favorite? “The Gramps” – a simple yet tasty combination of Pepperoni and Cheddar, suggest ed by a veteran Minsky’s server, Heather.
Sean isn’t new to Minsky’s, though. He enjoyed many meals at the Barry Road West Minsky’s growing up.
“I loved their trivia game!” he said.
Now he’s become a regular at the South Plaza location, and happened to be in the restaurant when the Royals won the ALCS! Enjoy your year of Minsky’s, Sean!
